Costume and Props

Since 1991 we have been lending the costumes/props to various theatre groups and nonprofit organizations. Our inventory is one of the largest in Ontario. We have costumes from every period with a number of them being vintage. We can costume plays with casts of one to seventy. Most of the theatre groups have been very good at returning items clean and in good repair; however some have not. The wear and tear on the costumes has been horrendous. Therefore, we have had to institute a user fee.

Costuming a show does not end with the run of the show. Costumes must be checked, cleaned, restored and all items borrowed/rented returned! This must be within three weeks of the show closing.

Therefore, all groups are required to pay a deposit and a user fee of $3.00 per costume OR $5.00 per actor. Commercial groups will be required to pay a rental fee of $50.00 to $150.00 or more depending upon the number of costumes /properties borrowed.

We have a number of small set props and hand props. These are available at a fee which will be ascertained based on the number of props taken for a production. The fee can vary from $5.00 to $50.00 depending on the number of props. Care must be taken when using the props as many are vintage. Also, the time and care that has gone into making many of the props must also be taken into consideration.

The deposit will be refunded after costumes and props are returned clean and in good repair. If necessary, cost of cleaning, repairs, and/or replacement will be taken out of the deposit and the dry cleaning bill sent to the user.

User fees will be as follows:

$100.00 deposit (returned) plus an unrefundable $3.00 per costume or $5.00 per actor user fee upon loan of costumes or properties to:

$50.00 deposit (returned) plus an unrefundable $3.00 per costume or $5.00 per actor user fee upon loan of costumes or properties to:

They are not available for: IT IS IMPORTANT TO RETURN THE COSTUMES, ETC. WITHIN THREE WEEKS OF THE END OF A PRODUCTION OR EVENT.
